Shedeur Sanders of the Browns will serve as one of the quarterbacks from the AFC for the Pro Bowl Games.
Shedeur Sanders has been appointed as a substitute quarterback on the AFC roster for the upcoming Pro Bowl Games, as reported by a source familiar with the matter to The Associated Press on Monday.
The source requested anonymity since the NFL has yet to announce any roster modifications. Yahoo Sports was the first outlet to disclose Sanders' inclusion.
The rookie from the Cleveland Browns was selected in the fifth round, despite expectations that he would be chosen earlier in the draft. Sanders participated in eight games, starting the last seven for the Browns, achieving a record of 3-4. He recorded a completion rate of 56.6% and a passer rating of 68.1, accumulating 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns, and ten interceptions.
Drake Maye from New England, Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers, and Josh Allen from Buffalo were part of the original AFC roster when the selections were revealed on December 23.
Maye is unable to take part due to the Patriots' progression to the Super Bowl, while Herbert and Allen faced injuries towards the conclusion of their seasons.
Other AFC quarterbacks, such as Patrick Mahomes from Kansas City, Daniel Jones from Indianapolis, and Bo Nix from Denver, also encountered season-ending injuries. Trevor Lawrence from Jacksonville was among the leading alternates but chose not to participate in the event.
Sanders was not among the four alternate quarterbacks selected when the rosters were initially announced.

The task of finding players to complete Pro Bowl rosters due to injuries has always posed a challenge, but it has become more pronounced since the NFL transitioned from the traditional full-contact exhibition all-star game format to a weeklong skills competition and flag football game starting with the 2022 season.
Tyler Huntley was selected as an alternate three years ago after throwing two touchdowns and three interceptions in four games.
The event commences with the Baltimore Ravens.
The Pro Bowl Games are scheduled to occur in San Francisco prior to the Super Bowl. Pro Football Hall of Famers Jerry Rice (NFC) and Steve Young (AFC) will serve as the coaches for the flag football competition on February 3.
