A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a temporary injunction preventing the Senate Committee on Ethics,
Privileges, and Public Petitions from initiating disciplinary actions against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central.
The order was granted by Judge Obiora Egwuatu on Tuesday, March 4, in response to an ex parte application submitted by the senator's legal team.
This ruling arrives as the committee was preparing to meet and consider the possibility of imposing an indefinite suspension on the senator.
The interim injunction suspends all related proceedings until further judicial examination.
The court's order states, “Upon reviewing the twenty-five (25) paragraph Affidavit supporting the Motion Ex-parte and the Affidavit of Urgency, both sworn by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, an adult female Christian and Nigerian citizen from Kogi Central Senatorial District, along with the Written Address filed at the Court Registry.
