Google's VPN service could be the cause of the connectivity problems experienced by Pixel 8 users.

Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro users worldwide are encountering connectivity problems, particularly those utilizing the device's built-in VPN. Numerous reports on the r/GooglePixel subreddit indicate issues such as difficulty accessing specific apps or websites and complete loss of connectivity. Disabling Google's new VPN appears to restore online access for most users, although individuals in regions without Google's VPN service are left without a temporary solution.

The latest update for the Google One app, currently being distributed to users, seems to address the problem, but it may take some time to reach all affected users. In the meantime, disabling the VPN could provide a quick fix.

Google's support page suggests deactivating the VPN from system settings or deleting the Google One VPN profile if internet connection problems persist. The transition from VPN by Google One to VPN by Google, which began rolling out to Pixel 7, 7 Pro, 7a, and Pixel Fold users recently, aims to offer better system integration for a smoother user experience. However, issues like these may lead users to explore alternative options.
