Sources have informed 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS’ Tom Hauser that two lawmakers from Minnesota have been shot.
Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman in Champlin and Minnesota State Representative Melissa Hortman in Brooklyn Park were allegedly shot in their residences by an assailant posing as a police officer.
A manhunt is presently in progress in Brooklyn Park for an individual impersonating a police officer.
The suspect, as per the alert, is described as a white male with brown hair, donning black body armor over a blue shirt and blue trousers. Authorities are advising residents to refrain from approaching the suspect if he is seen.
The current status of both lawmakers and whether there were any additional victims involved remains unknown; however, reports indicate that multiple victims were present at both sites.

Governor Tim Walz communicated via X that he has activated the State Emergency Operations Center and that law enforcement in Champlin and Brooklyn Park will have the “full resources of the State of Minnesota at their disposal.”
