Namibia and Cameroon secured a draw in a closely contested match during the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON qualifying round.

 

Namibia managed to secure a goalless draw against the already-qualified Cameroon in their TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifier, held at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg on Wednesday.

In the first minute, a shot from Prins Tjiueza was blocked, followed by a follow-up attempt from Aprocius Petrus that sailed over the crossbar. The Brave Warriors continued to apply pressure, with striker Peter Shalulile forcing a significant save from Cameroon's goalkeeper, André Onana, in the 42nd minute.

Cameroon, having already secured their place in the tournament, fielded a slightly modified lineup and controlled possession throughout the match, opting for a cautious approach. Vincent Aboubakar, typically a key player in their offense, had a subdued performance, with his only attempt going high in the 83rd minute.

In the second half, Namibia came closest to scoring when Tjiueza struck the post twice in the 58th minute, momentarily alarming the Indomitable Lions. Shortly thereafter, substitute Georges-Kévin N'Koudou managed to produce a rare shot on target for Cameroon, which was comfortably saved.

Despite late-game pressure from both sides, neither team was able to secure a goal. Cameroon remains at the top of Group J, while Namibia's commendable performance earned them their first point in the qualifying campaign.
